I feel down by how selfish people can get. But then I think that I probably show myself as a selfish person from time to time. I don’t want to judge anyone. Everyone has their reasons. I especially see it in the workforce.

Inner (R)evolutions: Personal Post #11 →
I can relate to this innerevolutions: I haven’t posted in a while. I think i’m at a crossroads… it’s funny because this month i have been so driven in terms of physical exercise and gymming and whatnot, that 85% of my conversations revolve around that. In all honesty, I haven’t talked about religion much AT ALL as I used to and I feel…
I need/want a spiritual awakening.
When I’m going towards my deen, all aspects of my life fall into place. True deen forces one to be moderate in all endeavours in life. There is no greater beauty.

I met a brother today at the gym. And I gotta say he was a beautiful man. He recently got closer to Islam and that noor was visible all over him. I’m thankful to meet people that motivate me to get closer to Allah. Alhumdullillah I have quite a few in my life that motivate me but I am always open for more people to be added to that list.

I sure learned from this. raymondaelias: There used to be three healthy and beautiful bushes in my backyard. In the Spring and Summer they were gorgeous with green glossy leaves, flowers, and red tips at the top. For many years they stood tall and thick, providing extra privacy from the next-door-neighbors. Recently, however, they…

From time to time
Whether the situation calls for it or not, I always stumble upon the question: how selfish are humans? At what level do people compromise their selflessness in favour of their own desires? I ask myself that too. What am I selfish about? When is it okay to be? In pensive mood today. Just thinking about life and people in general. When someone says something unexpected to you, it has the potential...
The Arrogance of Religiousity
My pet peeve on Tumblr, and in general regarding the way we address each other, is still the haughtiness that is displayed by people that pretend to be sincere in their use of the term ‘Oh so-and-so…’. Then there are those that use words like ‘Indeed’ and ‘Verily’ in their posts disguised as advice as if they are such authorities that such a pompous use of language is warranted. I say this about...

Question: Salaam alaikum, is it permissible to ask, when proposing for marriage, if the other person is a virgin? I was always told that asking such a thing is not permissible because it encourages people to lie about committing zinna or to reveal their sins, but I’ve seen no evidence either way so I thought I’d ask for clarification. Answer: It was reported by Abu Dawud and Al Nasai...

darutawheed: The Weeping of ‘Umar (radiyallaahu ‘anhu) could be heard from the last rows, as it has been reported to us by ‘Abdullah ibn Shaddad, who said: ‘I heard the sobbing of ‘Umar from the last rows, while he was reciting the verse from the Qur’aan: I Only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah. The Written Word vs. Transmitted Authority?
In his article Technology and Religious Change: Islam and the Impact of Print, Francis Robinson analyzes the relatively late use of the printing press by Muslims, who only utilized en masse about four hundred years after it had been well established in the Christian world. He rightly asserts that the use of transmission, via person-to-person, has been understood by Muslims to be at the very...

Grieve not: verily, God is with us.– [9:40]
Anas (radi Allahu anhu) reported that a person asked Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), “Should I tie my camel and have Tawakkul (trust in Allah for her protection) or should I leave her untied and have Tawakkul.” Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) replied, “Tie her and have Tawakkul.” (Hasan) [Jami At-Tirmidhi] I think sometimes Muslims either have no tawakkul in Allah that they...

Surah Imran [3:7-9]
7. It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah . But those...

I am a firm believer of being gentle. When we see our close brother and sister straying from a path that is good for them, we naturally feel frustrated, sad, and sometimes we even snap out at them. Many times, they have gone to a place where words that used to inspire them don’t as much anymore. In fact, it moves them away even more or makes them more desensitized. What people sometimes...
